The show starts at 7:00 PM in the SHS Auditorium. Tickets are available at the door, $4.00 for students and $6.00 for adults. We have 5 famous judges joining us Friday! Come check them out! MAJE Southeast Sr. District Jazz Festival 2013

The Music Department hosted the 2013 Massachusetts Association for Jazz Education High School Jazz Festival on Tuesday, March 12th in the high school auditorium. Thirteen high school jazz bands from Marshfield, Wellesley, King Philip, Oliver Ames, Stoughton, Norwood, Medfield, Foxboro and East Bridgewater performed.

The SHS Wednesday Jazz Band under the direction of Andrew Davey earned a Bronze Medal for their efforts. SHS Junior  Darlene Irons, bass & piano; sophomore Abbie Roane, tenor saxophone; and freshman Derek Westhaver on drums were chosen for Outstanding Musicianship Awards from the MAJE judges.

The SHS Tuesday Jazz Band under the direction of John Mange earned a Silver Medal and an invitation to MAJE State Finals on Saturday March 23rd in Framingham. Senior Alex Peixinho, alto sax; senior John Stewart-Racicot, trumpet; and Bobby Blindt, guitar & bass were chosen for Outstanding Musicianship Awards.

2013 Berklee High School Jazz Festival

The SHS Tuesday Jazz Band, SHS Jazz Choir and the SHS Jazz Combo competed in the 2013 Berklee College of Music High School Jazz Festival at the Hynes Convention Center in Boston, Massachusetts. Berklee's annual event is the largest of its kind in the United States.

The SHS Tuesday Jazz Band finished in 3rd place in Large Ensemble Division 3. David Elmowitz earned the Most Valuable Player Award for his drumming with the Tuesday Jazz Band. The Jazz Choir turned in a fine performance in the Vocal Jazz 2 Division. Abbie Roane won the MVP award for her performance with the choir. The SHS Jazz Combo also performed at the festival with Kevin McDonald earning the MVP Combo Award. Congratulations to all the students, staff and parent chaperons on a wonderful day of jazz!

SHS Tuesday Jazz Band @ The Norwood Jazz Classic

The SHS Tuesday Jazz Band made it’s competitive debut at the 2013 Norwood Jazz Classic Festival held on February 14th at Norwood High School. The Band earned a Bronze Medal for the efforts. To see the performance, click on the link below. Thank to Mr. Williams for taping the performance.
